voting a reality in Perry Township The Marion County
Election Board unanimously approved a resolution allowing
for satellite absentee voting for this November's
presidential election. This resolution applies
only to the 2008 general election cycle. The resolution allows for
two satellite absentee voting sites chosen by the Election
Board. One is located in Perry
Township at the Southport Community Center, 6901 Derbyshire
Road. Hours of operation are Thursday, Oct. 23-Sunday, Nov.
1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, including the
weekends. In addition, early voting
begins in the Marion County Clerk's office located in the
City-County Building on Monday, Oct. 6. Hours of operation at the
downtown location are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon. -Fri. Weekend hours at the
downtown location will operate the same as the two satellite
locations: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Oct. 25, 26 and Nov. 1,
2. The last day to vote
early is Monday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m.-noon at the downtown
location only. Marion County voters can
choose any of the satellite sites prior to Election Day to
cast an absentee ballot for November's election. To vote early, registered
voters must complete an absentee application, which is
available on-site. They must also present a
valid, government-issued photo I.D. before they are
permitted to complete an absentee ballot. For more information
